EHC Needs Assessment & Multi-Agency Support

Clear evidence. Clear needs. A clear picture of what isn’t working.

Support with an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) and with multi-agency meetings, from someone who has prepared and contributed to them many times from the school side.

EHC Needs Assessment support

Deciding whether to request an EHC Needs Assessment, and then pulling together the information to support it, can feel overwhelming. Much of the difficulty is educational rather than legal: being clear about what the child’s needs are, what support is already in place, what difference it has made, and why it may not be enough.

My role is educational evidence, clarity of need, provision and preparation.

I can help if you are

  • considering whether to request an EHC needs assessment
  • preparing educational evidence
  • trying to understand what information matters
  • gathering school, health and professional information
  • trying to explain why existing SEN Support may not be sufficient
  • trying to clarify needs, current provision and the gaps between them
  • preparing for meetings or multi-agency discussions
Multi-agency meeting preparation

Going in knowing what to ask

Multi-agency meetings can include school, health, social care and other professionals, each with their own reports and priorities. It’s easy to come away feeling that a lot was said and little was decided. Preparation helps keep your child’s needs at the centre.

Meeting attendance may occasionally be available by prior agreement and subject to availability. Preparation, rather than attendance, is the usual service.

I can help you:

  • organise reports and identify the key evidence
  • identify priorities
  • understand professional reports
  • see where professionals agree, and which questions remain unanswered
  • prepare questions, and work out which professional is best placed to answer each one
  • describe the educational impact clearly
  • keep your child’s needs central
Not sure where to start?

You don’t need to know exactly what service you need.

If you’re unsure where to start, The SEND Surgery is designed for exactly that. Bring the problem. We’ll identify what matters, what needs clarifying and what your next steps could be.
