Constructive, clear conversations with your child’s school.
I am a highly experienced SENCO. I understand the pressures and systems schools work within, and I know which conversations tend to move things forward.
Sometimes the most useful thing I can do is help a parent turn 20 concerns into three clear questions for their child’s SENCO.
Meetings with school can be frustrating on both sides. Parents often have a long list of worries built up over months. SENCOs are often managing large caseloads with limited time. When a meeting tries to cover everything, very little gets decided.
My approach is constructive, realistic and collaborative. It isn’t about winning an argument with school. It’s about being precise: what the need is, what the support should be, whether it is happening and how you will both know if it’s working.
I can help you
- prepare for meetings
- identify priorities
- understand SEND terminology
- identify useful questions
- understand evidence
- communicate clearly
- understand reasonable adjustments
- understand school systems
- work more productively with your child’s SENCO
- tell the difference between support existing and support being effective
